# A missed check-in should start a conversation. Not an instant release.

Looking for a dead man’s switch for documents or messages? Understand OscarOK’s check-ins, 30-day grace period, warning emails and two-contact confirmation rule.

“Dead man’s switch” is a common name for a system that takes action when someone stops responding. For personal information, the important question is what prevents a missed reminder from sharing something too soon.

## At a glance

OscarOK is a check-in-based information handover service with a full 30-day grace period, at least 14 days of warning after required email acceptance, and two distinct accepted-contact confirmations. It is not an immediate inactivity trigger or proof that someone has died.

## Start with the information and the people

Prepare vault items and choose who should receive them. Invite at least two distinct trusted contacts and ask them to accept. Their first responsibility during a warning is to try to reach you. Do not treat a missed check-in as a death notification.

## Understand all the conditions for release

OscarOK releases information only after a missed check-in, a full 30-day grace period, at least 14 days of warning after required emails are accepted by the provider, and confirmations from two distinct accepted contacts. It does not verify death. Two early confirmations do not shorten either waiting period. Warning delivery failures hold progression rather than silently starting the countdown. Provider acceptance still does not prove that someone has read an email.

## Use a check-in or pause when plans change

You can check in or pause monitoring while release is pending. A trusted contact who has reached you can also pause escalation. Keep your email and contact details current, and explain the process to your contacts before you need it.

## Choose it for the right job

OscarOK is for a planned handover of personal information. It is not an emergency alarm, immediate medical information service or automatic publication tool. Once an eligible recipient has downloaded information, expiring a link cannot recall that copy. Each released item or message has its own 30-day access window, including its attachments. Recipients need to save anything they want to keep during that window.

## Your starting checklist

- Choose information that can wait through the full release process.
- Ask two different people to accept trusted-contact invitations.
- Explain how contacts should try to reach you.
- Keep urgent instructions available through another route.
- Check recipient selections before adding sensitive information.

## Does missing one check-in release everything?

No. The full grace period, warning period and two distinct accepted-contact confirmations must all be satisfied.

## Can I shorten the 30-day grace or 14-day warning period?

No. These are fixed safeguards for the website launch. Pro delayed releases add time to selected vault items after release; they do not shorten the safeguards.

## Is OscarOK a death-verification service?

No. Its release process uses missed check-ins and trusted-contact confirmations, not a verified death record.
