Help your adult children find the documents, instructions and personal messages they may need after your death. Build a clear family information plan with OscarOK.

Your children may know your favourite song but not where you keep the insurance records. Preparing a clear handover helps them find the practical details while keeping your own words close.

## At a glance

To prepare information for your children, list the documents and contacts they may need, explain where originals are kept, and separate shared family instructions from personal messages. Choose adult trusted contacts who understand the release process.

## Begin with what only you know

Write down the location of important paperwork, the names of organisations you deal with and the people who can explain your arrangements. Add enough context to make each entry useful: what the document covers, which version is current and where someone should begin. Avoid assuming that a filename or reference number tells the whole story.

## Decide what is shared and what is personal

You may want every adult child to receive the same practical instructions, while keeping a letter or recording personal to one person. In OscarOK, select the recipients for each item. Review those selections when adding or editing information; an unrestricted item is intended for all accepted contacts.

## Leave encouragement without creating obligations

A message can share a memory, explain a family tradition or say something you find difficult to express in person. Keep it in your own voice. Consider how it might feel to read during grief, especially if it discusses relationships or difficult decisions. You can revise your message while managing your account.

## Plan around the service’s timing

OscarOK releases information only after a missed check-in, a full 30-day grace period, at least 14 days of warning after required emails are accepted by the provider, and confirmations from two distinct accepted contacts. It does not verify death. OscarOK is not a way to give a child immediate access after a death or to deliver a letter automatically on a future birthday. If your children are young, organise the practical information with an appropriate trusted adult rather than relying on a child to manage the release process.

## Your starting checklist

- List document locations and important professional contacts.
- Create shared household instructions for the relevant adult children.
- Keep each personal letter or recording in its own message.
- Discuss who should act as the two trusted contacts.
- Keep urgent information accessible outside the delayed release process.

## A personal message starter

“One thing I hope you always remember is… A moment with you that I treasure is… If you ever wonder why I made this choice, here is what I was thinking…”

## Can each child receive different information?

Yes. Vault items and Pro personal messages can be assigned to selected trusted contacts. Check the recipients on each item before saving it.

## Can OscarOK send a message on my child’s birthday?

No. OscarOK uses a check-in and confirmation process. Pro supports delayed vault items after release, not birthday scheduling or delivery at a chosen future age.

## How long can my children access released messages?

Each released item or message has its own 30-day access window, including its attachments. Recipients need to save anything they want to keep during that window.
