Choose the people. Explain the responsibility.
A trusted contact is someone you ask to help if you stop responding. Their role starts with trying to reach you, not assuming that a missed check-in means something has happened.

Full grace and warning periods, required warning email acceptance and two accepted-contact confirmations stand between a missed check-in and release.
Your words. Prepared for your people.Who should you choose?
Choose at least two different people who are likely to respond and know how to reach you. Tell them about OscarOK before sending invitations. Review their contact details regularly.
What can a trusted contact see?
Accepting an invitation does not unlock your vault. After a valid release, a contact can see only the information allowed by your recipient and category choices.
What happens during a warning?
Contacts receive a link to review the release status. They should try to contact you. If they have spoken with you, they can pause the escalation. Release still requires two confirmations and the complete warning period.
Make the instructions humane
Give contacts practical information and enough context to use it. They may be reading during a difficult time. Short explanations, recognisable document names and clear next steps help.
